The Department of Communication and Media at Rensselaer presents "Designing the Vernacular" by Sonia Matos, Ph.D, on Wednesday, April 17 at 12:30 PM in Sage 4711.  Dr. Matos, Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, U.K., & Visiting Scholar, MIT’s ACT Program in Art, Culture & Technology, will explore the importance of understanding vernacular knowledge when attempting to safeguard immaterial cultural heritage. A reception follows at 2:30 PM. Food and beverages will be served.

McKinney Writing Contest Awards Ceremony and Reading by Marilynne Robinson

Biotech Auditorium, Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies Building

Winners of the 2013 McKinney Writing Contest (Fiction/Drama, Poetry, Essay, and Electronic Media) will be honored at an awards ceremony at the Biotech Auditorium on Wednesday, April 17 at 8 pm.  The evening will also feature a reading and Q&A by internationally acclaimed author Marilynne Robinson.  The reading is free and open to the public.
